The Medina County Court of Common Pleas Common Pleas hears civil and criminal matters. Civil matters involve monetary damages and other relief, whereas criminal issues include misdemeanors, felonies, and other code violations. There are two judges in the Medina Court of Common Pleas:

Judge Hutson hears a variety of civil and criminal matters. Judge Kimbler presides over Drug Court and Mental Health Court.

The Medina County Domestic Relations Court is responsible for cases involving divorce, dissolution, legal separation, annulments, parentage cases, third-party legal custody, spousal, and child support, domestic violence civil protection, dating violence civil protection, and all post-decree matters in these cases.

The goal of the domestic relations court is to do what is in the best interests of the children involved in family cases. Parents are also encouraged to attend mediation to reach mutually acceptable conflict resolution. The court also periodically provides seminars for parents and attorneys.

  • Medina County Juvenile Division – The Medina County Juvenile Division is combined with the county Probate Court.   • Brunswick Mayor’s Court – This Mayor’s Court is held each week on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. Most tickets in this court involve traffic violations or other minor citations.   • Wadsworth Municipal Court – The City of Wadsworth, Ohio, operates a Municipal Court that hears traffic, criminal, and other minor matters.
